^{_{In the video “The Giving Tree”, I combine the experience of physical and mental pain. While getting a tattoo, I am reading “The Giving Tree”, a sad yet beautiful children’s fairy tale by Shel Silverstein, to which I have a personal connection to. The video work refers to the multifacetedness of pain as a feeling, bringing out its, so to speak, sweet side.}}
^{_{I had been out with a couple of friends, made out with a random guy and didn’t get to bed until 7 in the morning. During that time, I saw that my ex, who I am in regular contact with and whom I still very much love, had sent me a link. The website was allpoetry.com. I wanted to open it once I was tucked in bed and could fully concentrate on it. So, it was 7 in the morning, I was lying on my friend’s couch and I finally clicked on the link and read the text. It lead me to the fairy tale “The Giving Tree”. Oh, how I cried. A bittersweet feeling, like when getting a tattoo.}}

_{^{I went to the Flying Tiger store on the 1st of April, 2023. There was a mother with her two little sons, one of whom could barely walk. The same little boy tried to put on red heart-shaped sunglasses, which angered his mother. She claimed that they were for girls and that he should try on the boy ones instead. The child, who couldn’t even speak yet, tried to reach for the glasses a few more times, but to no avail. His brother, who was probably a few years older than him, declared in an exemplary manner that “these girls’ glasses look so stupid!”. I thought to myself WHAT KIND OF APRIL FOOLS JOKE IS THIS(😂😂🤣🤣), that someone would raise their children this way.}}
